Titans complete busy week with four wins

On Monday, May 8, the St. John's Jesuit Titans opened the Sectional tournament with a 3-0 victory over Whitmer. Senior Michael Fleck went seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out six, to pick up the win. Fellow senior Jared Telecky had two hits for the Titans.

In the Sectional finals on Wednesday, the Titans dropped a hard fought 2-1 decision to Perrysburg. Caleb Biedenharn, a junior, pitched a very good game in the loss, giving up two runs and striking out five. Telecky, Joey Sabol, Brandon Horman and Zach Businger each had one hit.

The Titans also traveled to Fremont on Tuesday for a TRAC match-up with Fremont Ross. Junior Tyler Perino went three innings and gave up no hits in the 3-0 win. Businger had two hits, including a double and an RBI.

On Saturday, the Titans then swept a double header from University of Detroit Jesuit (MI). In game one, SJJ fell behind 3-0 but tied it up with three runs in the sixth inning. In the top of the eighth, senior Nick Walters was rewarded as he smashed a home run to deep right center field for the game winning run. McCoy Butler threw two scoreless innings in relief to pick up his fourth win of the season. Fleck added three hits in the 5-4 win.

In the second game, the Titans again fell behind 3-0 but came back to win 8-5. Fleck earned the win, and Keyaunte Jones had three hits, while Alex Foulks and Horman added two each.

Next up, the Titans will host St. Francis Monday evening at 5 p.m.
