Titans compete at Kent State Thanksgiving Tournament

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the St. John's Jesuit varsity hockey team traveled to Kent State University for their annual Thanksgiving Showcase. On Friday evening, the Titans overcame a penalty filled contest to walk away with a 2-2 tie vs. Walsh Jesuit. Sophomore William Bowler scored a short handed goal to get the Titans on the board in the 2nd period and fellow sophomore Nicolas Meader scored in the third to tie it up.

Saturday morning, the Titans squared off with University School and came away with a 2-1 loss. Scoring the lone Titans goal was senior Ian Heldt. Less than two hours later, SJJ was back on the ice vs. Parma Padua. The Titans scored early and often with goals coming from Nate Koszycki (2), Derian Homer, Nicolas Meader, Peter Eigner and Matthew Pfeifer. Senior goalie JD Keller got the win in net for the Titans.

With a fourth game in 48 hours, the Titans closed the weekend with a 3-3 tie against Holy Name. Scoring for the Titans were Nicolas Meader, Nate Koszycki and Matthew Stansley.

The Titans open up league play on Friday, December 1 at Tam-O-Shanter as they host Bowling Green at 9 p.m.
