Titans win Bill Urban Memorial Titan Invitational

The St. John's Jesuit varsity wrestling team hosted the Bill Urban Memorial Titan Invitational on Friday, December 29 in the Titan Dome. Each wrestler on the team earned points to help secure the team championship over 14 other teams. The Titans earned 199 points, followed by Central Catholic (157), St. Mary Catholic Central (153) and Lake (141.5).

SJJ was led by strong performances from Tim Marshall (1st), Max Turner (1st), CJ Valentine (2nd) and JT Furko IV (2nd). Senior AJ Savona won his 100th career match early in the day and also went on to place second for the Titans.

Additional top four place winners for the Titans were Derrick LaPoint (3rd), Jackson Taylor (3rd) and Cassius Collins (4th). Contributing to the success of the team by picking up valuable points were Jack Meinke (5th), Tristan King, Laine Isaacson (5th), Nolan Barber (6th) and Will Lanier.

The day prior to the Bill Urban Memorial Titan Invitational, the JV Titans hosted the SJJ JV Invitational. While the JV team had only five wrestlers, they all contributed a strong effort in representing SJJ. Placing for the Titans were Titus Chubb (2nd), Chad Berg (4th) and Gabriel King (4th). Tyler Camp and Brandon Camacho also picked up victories during the day.
