Titans compete at Hungry Eagle Indoor Regatta

The St. John's Jesuit crew team began the spring season on Saturday, February 24 at the Hungry Eagle Indoor Regatta, hosted by Skyline High School. Zachary Gribble finished seventh in the Varsity Boys event, an event that featured a 7-foot rower from Northville High School and a U.S. Junior National Team participant from Huron High School. Alexander Peseckis placed sixth in the JV Mens event, which was the largest event at the regatta with 22 entries.

SJJ had three top 10 finishers in the 160 lb. event with Collin O'Connell, Jacob O'Brien and Benjamin Theis placing. Theis won gold in the event and posted the fastest lightweight time of the regatta. Andrew Dake and Lucas Carr were both top 10 finishers in the 150 lb. category. Rahul Thusay and Joseph Thaman won the gold and silver medals in the Coxswain 1000 meter race.

The highlight of the weekend was the Men's 4x500 relay team that finished with a bronze medal and only three seconds off the winning pace. Alexander Peseckis, Benjamin Theis, Braden Schwallie and Zachary Gribble rowed a blistering 6:06.30, the second fastest relay time recorded by an SJJ indoor team. 5:58.10 is the record they hope to beat this weekend at the SJJ hosted Glass City Indoor Championships.

The Titans will host the Glass City Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Titan Dome. Admission to the event is free to all SJJ students.
