Basketball: Mike Schoen

  Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Shoen '05 enters his 3rd year Assistant Athletic Director, and his 5th year working at St. John's Jesuit. His duties include assisting in all aspects of day-to-day athletics in the high school, game operations, and scheduling.  Mike's duties also include overseeing all St. John's Jesuit Academy athletics, and directing and operating all SJJ Summer SportCamps.  Mike also teaches an Academy Physical Education class, as well as heading the Jogues House as House Dean.

Prior to working in the Athletic Department, Mike started his duties at SJJ as the Associate Director of Admissions for two years.  Mike taught American History during his third year at SJJ as well as serving in the athletic department on a part-time basis. 

Mike also enters his 5th year as a member of the St. John's Jesuit basketball coaching staff.  He has been the Head Freshman Blue coach for the past four years, as well as assisting on the varsity staff throughout his tenure.  Mike's freshman teams have accumulated a record of 50-11 over the last 3 years and have won the TRAC Championship the past two years, including last years 20-2 team.  Mike also assists in day-to-day coaching on the varsity staff.  Mike's duties include opponent scouting, self scouting, and day-to-day coaching and operations.  Mike also oversees all the video editing and video scouting throughout the SJJ Basketball program, as well as the off-season lifting and conditioning program.  During Mike's four years at SJJ 8 players he has coached are playing at the college level. 

Prior to his time at SJJ, Mike served as a Student Assistant within the University of Dayton Men's Basketball program for 4 years.  The last two years Mike served as the Head Student Assistant. His duties included organizing Student Assistant's practice scheduling, assisting in day-to-day practice operations, opponent scouting, self scouting, travel operations, and summer camp operations.  The Flyers combined for a record of 50-19 during Mike's two years as Head Student Assistant. During this time the Flyers also made a birth into the 2009 NCAA Tournament where the Flyers defeated West Virginia in the first round before losing to Kansas in the second.  Three players that Mike worked with at the University of Dayton have recently made NBA rosters.  Mike graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Physical Education.

Mike graduated from St. John's Jesuit High School in 2005. During his time at SJJ, he played two years of varsity basketball. During those two years SJJ won two City League Championships, a District Championship, and a Regional Championship.  Those teams compiled a record of 43-8 and during his Junior season the Titans reached the State Championship.  His senior year he served as a team captain.
