Requirements for tryout participation:
- We ask that if your son has interest in participating, that families are all in to participate throughout the entire season. We try to create numbers on teams to allow the students to get playing time, and not have teams with extremely high numbers. If you do not feel that the commitment cannot be held regardless of what team your son is assigned to, I suggest not trying out. With that said, I know that circumstances change for individuals and families – but please consider the commitment regardless of team assignment.
- All students must be signed up on FinalForms and have all necessary paperwork electronically signed by both parents and students. Attached is the Player/Parent Final Forms Sign up Cheat Sheet if you are new to FinalForms.
- All students must have an up to date physical on file. We ask that any new physical be uploaded by the family onto FinalForms. This can be done by scanning or even taking a picture of the paperwork. If you have any specific questions regarding physical, do not hesitate to reach out to our Athletic Trainers (awagner@sjjtitans.org). We only need page 4 & 5 on the Physical Form. Click here for form.
- No basketball needs to be brought for the tryouts.
- Please wear a reversible jersey or bring a dark and light-colored shirt. If it has your last name on it, even better.Â
- The Gyms should only have students, coaches, and evaluators present.Â
- Students should attend both days.Â
Additional information:
- Teams will be split based on coach evaluation and talent level/ability.
- Students will be made aware of teams at school, likely on Wednesday or Thursday of that week. Practice schedules will then be sent out. Due to gym availability, academy teams tend to practice later in the evening. It is important to be aware of this before making the commitment.
- If you have any interest in coaching, please let me know. There is the potential for need, but we will not know for sure until teams are set.Â
- All teams will likely practice 2 or more times a week during the season. The season will take place during the months of November-February.  There is a chance that some teams play into March.
- 2nd Quarter Eligibility is based on 1st Quarter Grade
- Winter Sports Player/Parent Meeting is Wednesday, November 8th at 6:30PM.
- We are aware that some students will not be pleased with the team they are placed on for a variety of reasons. That is not uncommon. We will do our best with the assistance of the Academy Faculty and Staff to help our students through any difficulty. Please know that all decisions are challenging, but it is always with best judgment and for what is best for students & teams.Â
- If you are interested in participating in Academy Wrestling, more information will be coming soon!
