The St. John's Jesuit crew team competed in the Midwest Rowing Championship on Saturday, May 13, which included 56 teams with over 200 crews.
The Titans placed fifth out of the top teams from nine states in the J8 (
Aiden Positano,
Carter Horen,
Will Wertz,
Sutton Row,
Mick Giordano,
Alex Stechschulte,
Bryce Harris,
Mason Brewer and
Ali Heif).
The J4 of Positano/
Rowan Croak, Horen, Wertz, Brewer and Heif placed 10th overall.
Seniors
Joseph Steigauf and
Jagger Champion teamed up to finish fourth in the V2 and eighth in the V2x.
The V4+ (Croak,
Andrew Balcerzak,
Erik Bradley,
Jonathan Mahoney and
Ryan Gray) placed 18th, while the N4+ (Croak,
Milo Ligman,
Gabriel Cansky and
Aidan Schimmel) placed 19th.
Lastly, the N8+ (
Ryan Doyle, Mahoney, Gray, Balcerzak, Ligman,
James Loomis,
Colin Thornton, Xavier Cooley and
Isaac Positano) placed 15th overall.
All in all it was a great showing, with the Titans receiving an invite to the Rust Belt Catholic Championship next spring, which is held in Pittsburgh for the top five fastest Catholic crews in the Midwest!
