The St. John's Jesuit Titans hosted their final home game of the year on May 19 vs. Rocky River in a regional quarterfinal match-up. With an 13-4 win, SJJ will now face Walsh Jesuit in the regional semifinal.
The Titan offense controlled the pace of the game, controlling the ball for a stretch of over five minutes at one point in the second quarter. Seniors Anthony Brohl (4 goals), Tyler Meader (4 goals) and Quinn Staten (3 goals and 1 assist) led all players. Senior Zach Zitkovic led all players in assists, with two along with one goal. Brohl also led all players with eight GBs.Â
The defense, led by three senior defensemen (Cooper Hoyt, Kaden King and Abe Townley), played an amazing second half and limited the 7th seeded Pirates to only 11 shots on the day. Â
Earlier in the week, the Titans defeated Benedictine, 20-0, to begin postseason play. Sophomore Alexander Speer set the school record for points in a game with 12 (5 goals and 7 assists). Brohl (6 goals and 2 assists) and Staten (1 goal and 3 assists) balanced the attack on offense. Ian Horner and the defense earned their second shutout of the season, allowing only three shots in the contest. Nico Kreuz led all players with three CTs and Adam Colburn led all players with six GBs.
Next, the Titans will travel to Walsh Jesuit on Monday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.
