Coach Derrick Stumm is set to begin his third season as Head Hockey Coach at St. John's Jesuit High School. Stumm has been an assistant within the SJJ hockey program since 2013.
In his first two years at the helm, the Titans have recorded key wins over Findlay, Anthony Wayne and Sylvania Northview. After gaining varsity experience, the Titans now look to build upon their success during the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Prior to being named head coach, Stumm was the varsity assistant coach, a position he held for three years. He was also the SJJ JV Head Coach from 2013 – 2016.
In addition to working with the Titan hockey program, Coach Stumm spent the 2018 season as the assistant coach with the Sylvania Pre/Post U-18 team. In 2019, he was also the head coach for the Sylvania Pre/Post U-16 team.
Since 2011, he has also held the role of head coach for various house and All-Star teams within the Sylvania Youth Hockey Program.
With more than 35 years of experience as a player and coach, he started his hockey career in Sylvania with the local hockey travel programs. He continued on to play AAA hockey in the Michigan National Hockey League. Coach Stumm ended his career at the Junior level, where he was a member of the 1998 National Champion Toledo Cherokee Junior Hockey Club. He was also a member of the Grand Rapids Grizzlies of the Junior A North American Hockey League.
Coach Stumm is an employee benefits consultant with USI Insurance Services. He and his wife Missy have five children together. Their son Brandon is a current Titan sophomore.
