Over the past week, the St. John's Jesuit lacrosse team improved to 8-1 on the season and 3-0 in the CHSL, with convincing wins over De La Salle Collegiate, Perrysburg, and Columbus Academy.
At De La Salle Collegiate on Tuesday, April 8, the Titans took an early lead and never looked back, winning 13-5. Alexander Speer led all players with five goals and finished with six points on the day (5 goals, 1 assist). Drew Duesing added five points (1 goal, 4 assists), including assists to three different teammates. The Titans got multi-goal efforts from Cameron Weinberg (3 goals) and Owen Strayer (2 goals, 1 assist). Tyler Zetocha had a excellent day, winning 13 of 19 faceoffs and leading all players with seven groundballs. Additionally, goalie Braylon Lewis recorded nine saves on the day.
On Thursday, the Titans traveled to Perrysburg and played a suffocating brand of team defense, led by Kyler Ayers and Mason Bowers. The defense held the Yellow Jackets scoreless for nearly the first two full quarters. Drew Duesing (3 goals, 3 assists) and Alexander Speer (6 goals) recorded all of the Titan goals in the 9-3 win. Alexander Speer and Ian Moloney led all players with five groundballs each.
The Titans then finished the week with a dominating 13-2 win over Columbus Academy on Saturday. Drew Duesing recorded another three goal, three assist day, as he improved his team-leading assist total to 16 on the season. Alexander Speer (3 goals, 1 assist) and Cameron Weinberg (3 goals) each added three goals on the day. Braylon Lewis finished with nine saves and Owen Strayer added two goals and had a career and game high seven groundballs in the contest.
Next, the Titans will travel to Bowling Green on Wednesday, April 16.
